Climate Resilience Series with Laura Lengnick & Meredith Leigh

Inspired by a desire to better understand how to manage the land she cares for at Martha’s Kitchen Garden Llc in the best way for the environment and climate conditions, Martha Cinader discovered Laura Lengnick’s book, Resilient Agriculture: Cultivating Food Systems for a Changing Climate. So impressed with the depth of knowledge and practical advice presented, Martha invited Laura to discuss the book on the Listen & Be Heard Hour for Readers & Writers in the Spring of 2023. She was immediately compelled to continue the conversation and began a series of seasonal specials on the subject of climate resilience.

Meredith Leigh, author of The Ethical Meat Handbook, and another expert in the Asheville NC region, soon joined the conversation. An ongoing discussion had been building on understanding, communicating and planning ways to be resilient and feed people locally and regionally.

Laura Lengnick, author and founder of Cultivating Resilience, LLC, has explored agricultural and food system sustainability through 30 years of work as a federal researcher, policy-maker, adult educator, private consultant, community activist and farmer to understand what it takes to move sustainability values into action on the farm, in community and as a nation.
