Tony Robles speaks to Marlo Scheitler, Maeve Fox, and Jason Parker about their work. Marlo takes an intricate dive into the inspiration for her poems, talking about issues of diversity, equity and inclusion. Her poetry is framed around reclaiming and reframing around things that should be rewritten or reclaimed as well as inspiring women of color and people of color about who they are and why they are the way they are.

Maeve Fox published her first book of poetry recently called “Letting Go Of Me.” Her book is about a transition which changed her life entirely, moving from the person she used to be while celebrating the person she’s become, akin to a eulogy.

JoJo Barrett is a pre-med major, creative writing minor, writing about love activism and more. The “more” is kind of the in-betweens which is referenced in his brand Joetry he created in April 2025, stemming from the inequality seen in America and those negatives connections to the positives like love.

Jason Parker’s story, “Prosecutor Boy,” originates from his own life; he was a prosecutor for twenty five years and when he moved back to his hometown he was the first black prosecutor/lawyer in the area. Over the years he had a lot of strange cases and was told he should write a book, so eventually he gathered his stories together thanks to the advice of people in his life.
