The fire was not
obviously hot
enough to burn the bones,
at least not all.
Hot enough to burn
the smallest parts,
as if melted,
but not vertebrae
nor large leg bones.
What do I do now?
Hide them?
Where?
Why?  Just toss
in the ditch,
no one will see,
or care. 
The body’s gone,
what’s one less deer?
