Cipriano Belser is a low wage worker, turned Organizer, turned co-operative owner. Born and raised in the Bay Area, he has resided in Los Angeles for the last 15 years. In his time in LA he went from working retail jobs to becoming a labor organizer, which led him to want to use his organizing knowledge to support The Black Community in LA. In those organizing circles he met Natalie Matos and Zach Ray, his two cofounders of Black Lantern Books and The Legacy Library. Together, over the last year, they have built a space that is stewarding the memory and archive of movement elder Kwazi Nkrumah, who has become an ancestor. It is a center for learning, expression, and organizing within the grand spectrum of Black Life in Inglewood CA.
