Happily Ever After

We can never have a happy ending at the end of an unhappy journey, it just doesn’t work out that way. The way we’re feeling along the way is the way we’re attracting into our lives, and the way things will continue to feel. I have blogged about this topic before:

Happiness is a Choice
Practice Happiness Daily
Happy on the Way

Let’s take the journey of weight release as an example. If we restrict calories to the point of feeling deprived, or eat foods we don’t like, we are far more likely to feel cranky and hangry than happy. Even if we do manage to release some weight, we haven’t created a nourishing relationship with food, and once we return to eating what we like in satisfying amounts, the weight creeps back up.

If we wish to create a relationship with food and body that feels happy and nourishing, then our journey to weight release MUST feel happy and nourishing. I encourage clients to eat foods they enjoy, in amounts that satisfy hunger. Weight release like this takes a little more time to achieve, but it lasts a heck of a lot longer!

Let’s take a different example. Let’s say our relationship is at a point where it feels stormy, and we’d like to steer it back onto happy shores where it used to be. Often in this situation, people feel it’s their place to point to all the ways where their partner could do better. But isn’t this just pointing out the things that DON’T make us happy?

We cannot get to a happy place looking only at what makes us unhappy.

I encourage clients to begin looking for all the things in relationship that make them happy, and then POINT THOSE OUT to their partner. Make a list of all the things you love and appreciate in them, and then read them the list! It feels really good for both people.

Look for the good bits. Look for what makes you feel lighter, freer, happier inside. Incorporate as MUCH of that as you can in your time and attention each and every day. That’s how we reach our happy ending.

We LIVE happily. Ever after.
As often as possible.

Wishing you energized thriving!
