Banned Books

PEN America recently reported that “the movement to ban books is driven by a vocal minority, demanding censorship. A 2022 poll conducted by the American Library Association found that over 70% of parents oppose book banning, leaving many public school districts in a bind.”

The Listen & Be Heard Show for Readers & Writers has been exploring the topic of Banned Books in its second season.  We invite you to share your thoughts on the topic! Please send us a recording that we can air on the show following the instructions below. We look forward to hearing from you!

RECORDING INSTRUCTIONS
  • Please provide a 2-3 minute recording
  • Use a voice memo app or the voice message option in your text app
  • Find a quiet place to record
  • Introduce yourself (just you first name is fine)
  • Begin with an opening statement that includes the topic, for example: When I hear about the banning of books some thoughts come to mind…
  • At the end you must include this sentence: I give my permission for Listen and Be Heard to use this recording for broadcast and podcast.
  • Listen your recording and make any adjustments needed, like moving the phone closer or further away.
  • Once you’re happy with your message, email it to Books@ListenandBeHeard.net with the subject line “Banned Books”
