My Personal Experience as a Listen & Be Heard Network Intern

by Micah Franklin

My experience with L&BH has been pretty interesting and exceeded what my expectations of this type of work is. As aforementioned my school has an internship program for the second semester of the senior year and over the summer of 11th grade I had discussed working with my best friend’s father for my senior year intern program. Luckily for me I successfully landed the internship after talking with my now boss, Martha Cinader, who is the Director of Listen & Be Heard Network, which is a project of Sound System Culture Inc., a new non-profit that my friend’s dad is the Artistic Director of.

I’ve worked for a podcast before during the summer with SYEP so I’ve garnered basic information on how to actually edit and record audio and do minimal video editing, but here at L&BH I’ve been given the opportunity to grow and polish my skills. Though I interchange with my intern partner Javi, for the most part I’ve been working behind the scenes with editing/updating the L&BH website as well as reaching out to different people we interview for further information.
