A few weeks ago now we had a snowstorm on Paris Mountain. All sorts of birds flocked to our eclectic collection of feeders, but especially the chickadees and cardinals.
The bird feeder in this zoom photo is hanging in a tree in our front yard. We can watch it from a kitchen window, about thirty feet away. The chickadee doesn’t like to pose for pictures. It moves very fast and doesn’t ever just stay still. Very cautious, it first lands in a nearby tree, then flies to a branch in the tree holding the feeder. It hops around a bit from limb to limb, looking all around. When it finally arrives at the feeder it surveys the yard one more time before turning its back to peck at some seeds.
