It’s been almost a month since I wrote about working on a new garden bed, and the majority of that time it was raining. Mr. Mims bought new timber, and the plan was to make the frame for the new raised bed over the holidays so that the boys could fill it with compost and chicken waste for me before they went back to school. I wanted the mixture to marinate in place before spring.

It’s uncertain what will happen now, but what is certain is that I will not have a blueberry crop this year, because the bushes are all blooming now and it’s supposed to drop to 25 degrees tonight. The same may also be true for the bulbs already pushing up from the ground and even beginning to bloom, hyacinths and tulips and daffodils and iris, oh my.
Yesterday was sunny and dry, and the forecast is no rain before Friday but cold…
