Carla Field
Author

Carla Field has been writing since the 1980s, when she won several awards for short stories and poetry, before beginning a lengthy career as a broadcast and digital news journalist and news manager. During her 25 years in the news business, she was awarded several Associated Press and Society of Professional Journalism awards, as well as an Edward R. Murrow Award.
Field was born and raised in the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts and loved the depth of history in that area. After many years living and working in several cities from Austin to Miami, Field relocated to the other end of the Appalachians, to Greenville, South Carolina, another city with a richly layered past.
After years of serving as the digital managing editor for the NBC affiliate in Greenville, Field uncovered a random bit of fascinating information in her own back yard that ultimately led her to write her first historical fiction novel, “When He Was Gone,” published in August 2024.
