An Electrified “Petrified”

Sherwood’s play contains social commentary, yet very philosophical humor. A young waitress describes her attraction to a traveling poet as “a natural object of charity.” Sherwood’s characters are complex, yet a little atypical. Mostly, the energetic cast carries their emotional complexity and embellished personalities. I recommend this production for Sherwood’s rich writing and its entertainment value.

Under Redwoods in Marin

Marin’s Porchlight Theatre beckons the audience to journey to a town, which Dylan Thomas had once described as “an ugly, lovely town” in Wales.  Thomas wrote “Under Milk Wood” during his stay at small sea resort in Wales.  Originally a radio play, he adapted the script for the stage.  The language steams with ribald humor [...]
