I love this place! It reminds of the CBGB's (the one that featured Americana, Indie, Blues) in New York City. Akin to the Knitting Factory. The staff is great!

PS from Dave Tilton: As seen in Rashida Tessler's photograph that accompanies this article, it is not gold trim but a fireplace behind the musicians. One can see the circle pattern on it, which would support the section in the article regarding the head and circle alignment while Sri Karunamayee was performing. As for the way I remembered and described the moment...a picture IS worth a thousand words. A thousand apologies.

I came to this page looking for news of the Vallejo Cafe. What a shock! I am a poetry newsletter publisher and I had never heard a whisper of the closing!

However your article is lucid and valuable and an incisive listing of the issues we all have to face as artists. Good luck and more power to you!

Grace Unto You and Peace,
Social Aspect Reader,

A misunderstanding occurred when I wrote above that a physical garden planted for vegetables was to be a project of my friend in Si Chuan.

I confused a "Garden of Tranquility" for a real garden. The Garden mentioned, was a metaphor for a peaceful internal spot or a Garden of Peace for the Mind.

My responsibility rests in clarifying the misunderstanding.

Agape, kiitos, shalom, Xei Xei, salaam ja namaste,

Not true -- when was the last time you changed the oil in your electric washer or electric drill?

Grace Unto You And Peace,
For a trusted source of information on the situation in Szechuan "click" on:

http://www.npr.org/blogs/chengdu/

There is a more extensive list of agencies from which to consider about donating money for relief.

Please? As you stay dry and warm?
