Infidelity

by ileia thomas
poet feature this friday during the open mic at
listen & be heard poetry café
As I Gaze in his brown eyes
It's not the same
But I can't understand why
For it has just been five years since we've joined in this union of love called matrimony
Slowly but surely his devoted time to me was filled by something else
I presuppose the thought of adultery
Could it be?
That this once loyal man was guilty of infidelity
I devoted my heart my body and soul to him
Gave him two blessings and even took care of his own kids
As I stand there at the edge of the balcony
My hair blowing through the breeze
I calculate my thoughts together is my husband cheating on me
Despite if it's true or not
The possibilities are at hand
There's no way my husband could do such a thing
For I married god's man
Even though it would explain the late nights at work
And why for the past few days I've noticed a lipstick stain on his shirt
But despite my thoughts I have to stay true to my heart
I love this man and he loves me
Love too deep for another woman to break apart
So I'll just sit and pray and ask god to inform me
If my husband has been faithful or guilty of
Infidelity.
