her skinny arms so tiny
by jennifer wadsworwth
her skinny arms so tiny,
bright eyes round and shiny;
lemme hold you stable
on my hip
before I drip
a bit of honey
on your dress
and flinch from your caress.
i wish...i had a girl
like you
to carry just like this,
all new
and small
and sprightly,
arms wrapped around me tightly,
exclaiming loudly
at everything you see
as if...and here you might be right...
it's your discovery
and we're just watching,
ignorant,
offended now
and indignant
as if we didnÍt see
...what you had just discovered,
exposed,
and then recovered
to be hidden in a recess
of your mind,
a particle of panoply,
a little girl's epiphany.
