Poem of the Day, Listen & Be Heard Weekly

She gave life to seven on this Earth.
Seven is the number of spiritual worth.
Seven is also the number of my mother's birth.
It's meaning is the lesson of faith.
Learning to see beyond the troubles you face.
Giving you strength to make tomorrow a better place.
My mother's life will show you faith's lesson well;
because she created Heaven out of the ashes of Hell.

She married my father with a seven year old son.
She had high hopes for a better life to come.
But Daddy was Big Mama's only boy.
Big Mama played with Mama's emotions like a toy.
She gave Mama hell and so much more.
Even with those troubles she found a reason to share joy.
You know at times she would hum and sing
"Lord could you please show me the way,
and give me strength for another day."

Mama had the wisdom to teach us the right way.
Lord knows I didn't always do what she said
but she still loved me any old way.
taught me the difference from right and wrong.
Showed me that true value should be rooted in the home.
We were the only family that Mama ever knew.
Mama's past was a dark shade of blue.
A window she never wanted us to look through.

Mama's faith grew to be strong.
She didn't think that her life would last so long.
She outlived all her past pain.
For her troubles, true love she has gained.
And there is no greater wealth on Earth
to learn the true value of what life is worth.
It's a love that grows stronger without an end.
It's having a mother who could be your best friend.
Having someone who prays for the best in you
makes my mother so rare, so beautiful, and so true.

I'm blessed with a mother who share the faith of love to all.
She may be a little short (smile) but in so many hearts she stands tall.
Everyone that her life has touched
has a very special story to tell.
How she created Heaven out of the ashes of Hell.
