house of my mothers mama
wise women walk here
we know things and people
we have spells and care
written on luminous faces
beauty is fierce here
it shines from within like a shield
the softness of it will cut you
wound you in heart spaces
if you are not afraid
if you are willing
if you would be lifted
look into the eyes
and know that you know
and be comfortable that
such wisdom and love reside here
with us in us for us
don’t fake no funk here
we got fake funk detectors here
be wounded by beauty
be wounded by living
be unafraid to feel the the funk
be in the river of life
falling down
and standing up
with moon sisters on mountains
surveying the paths to tomorrow
we play for power here
these are human chips
we play for our lives here
unafraid of being wounded
we stand up
unafraid of your fear
we will fight
unafraid of your ignorance
we remain light
unafraid

ask the moon
ask grandmother if she didn’t
know today before she died

if the dead still talk to you
ask your mother

written on the moon

to be sun shining

and the war cry echoes in
the starkness of the nothing

in the center of the circle
with fire in my eyes
