this is blk art

performed w voodoo intention
in the eye of the whirlwind
where time is all time at one time
standing still we move in jazz notes
cross paradigms in the blink of Osiris’s all seeing third eye
I am resurrected and re-membered sewn of grand Baba’s cloth
we still the children of the drum
even in hip hop we break but ain’t broke
kente patterns of blood memory
performed in street operas
we are the redemption song
being sung by severed tongues
bleeding activist who raise rebellious
addicts who birth activist
we performing life
to death in rituals
of survival waiting for success
to enter like a delayed protagonist
we have come to our own rescue
with libations of liberatory lyrics
sung softly by ghetto youth
in crap games wagering
over the nature of their existence
sanctify our prayers
with gin and juice
for Ogun is thirsty,
the night is long.
And the drummer is waiting.
