Take her visit to Angel Rodriguez
with his California Lottery winnings Thursday night last week.
Luck did not choose Angel Rodriguez and his family.
Darting before him for some teriyaki jerky,
Luck stumbled into Rodriguez by the counter of a Circle K
convenience store in Santa Ana where, gathering tortillas,
Pepsi and a quart of milk, Angel found the five dollar bill
that this bump from Luck dislodged. It fluttered
to the floor, wings still pulsing.
Rodriguez stooped and scooped it light as flight.
He pondered then quickly proffered it
requesting five quick-picks from Kim Sung Cho
who listlessly pulled them like tiny little rabbits
from her mysterious machine of missing miracles.
Luck Is a Fickle Lover (lacking only choice)
