Plenty of Talent to Go Around

October 17th, 2007 by martha mims · No Comments

Dennis Ocampo and Dave Tilton hosted the Acoustic Jam on Saturday morning.

When I pause to think about it, it’s actually remarkable the amount of talent that steps onto our stage each week, rain or shine, crowd or intimate gathering, the talent is never lacking. From the esoteric poetry of Opal Palmer Adisa, to the east meets west improviastions of Dave Tilton and Dennis Ocampo, to the virtuosic guitar work of the Atmos Trio with Babatunde Lea sitting in on drums, if you weren’t around, well you missed it. It’s not too late to partake though. This Thursday, Tony Mims will give another one of his now-famous lectures on Metaphysics. On Friday, we’ll feature a couple of slam poets from Seattle. Saturday will be busy from morning until night, with Ed Rivers hosting the acoustic jam session, me, Martha Mims hosting a storytelling circle in the afternoon, and our local jazz guitarist Paul Neal bringing his quartet in for Saturday Cafe from 8-10pm.

When you come, don’t be a stranger. Introduce yourself and give in to naked expression.
