A Few Words About an Exhibition I Am a Part Of

This show might as well have been named after the Franz Liszt?Äôs famous polonaise ?ÄúImpromptu.?Äù But because of the diligent last minute work of a few new and core members of the Vallejo Artists?Äô Guild, the show will go on. Well at least a show will. Because of a number of unrelated circumstances, what started as this year?Äôs Vallejo Artists?Äô Guild Juried Photography show has become a chance for four veteran and two brand new artists to show their work.

This group of photographers (two digital, two still using film), one photographer/videographer, and one well-known and published writer/photographer working with another famous illustrator (whose work will also be shown), the word eclectic might be an understatement.

Each artist brings to this show very different imagery running the gamut from smiling faces taken in Ethiopia to softly lit nude bodyscapes, from an almost jaded look at blues performances and historical reenactors to one photographer who uses antique cameras that he repaired himself, and has never shown his work.

If that is not enough, how about a bit of the dark side? Certain images will be shown behind a curtain within an area called ?ÄúThe Hall of Shame,?Äù set up in order to shield the innocence of the youth of today, and to protect the reputation of the Vallejo Artists?Äô Guild and its board of directors.

Truly something for everyone, but not everyone?Äôs glass of absinthe.
