I would like to welcome you to another week of self-discovery and universal understanding. On August 23rd the Sun moved into the constellation of Virgo. I would like to wish all those meticulous Virgos out there a happy Earthday. The life-giving light of the sun is in your sector of the Zodiac, and it’s your time to shine in the Sun’s light. If you were born between Aug. 23rd and Sep. 23rd you are a Virgo, the sixth sign of the Zodiac. The sign Virgo is a mutable earth sign, and its ruler is Mercury. The key phrase for Virgo is “I analyze.” They believe that cleanliness is next to godliness or is the first step in that direction.

The symbol of Virgo is a virgin with sheaves of grain in her hands. The sheaves represent the wisdom that is harvested in the fields of experience. The planet Mercury is the ruler of Virgo. Virgos are forever seeking knowledge that will bring matter under the control of the mind. Virgos subject their world to microscopic analysis. The saying ‚Äúcan‚Äôt see the forest for looking at the trees‚Äù is a phrase coined after the critical perceptions of the Virgo mind. Virgos can become so engrossed with the trivial that they can lose the significance of the issue as a whole. Virgos must learn to discriminate between the essential and the trivial. They also must learn to be absolutely dispassionate in evaluating both their own performance and the performance of others. Virgos’ principle of analysis also rule the body functions of the pancreas, intestines, and digestive organs, which split up and reduce food to its elementary components in order that the body may select or reject what is useable. Virgo people are invaluable in business as accountants and managers. Other professions they do well in are teaching, writing, and research. As editors (Virgo is my wife’s rising sign) and proof-readers, they are unexcelled. Virgos manage in a reserved way to make themselves indispensable to whatever organization they are serving.

The year ahead for Virgos is full of testing changes that will have you questioning reality. With Uranus, the planet of unexpected changes, transiting through the sign Pisces since January of 2005, no doubt Virgos have had their share of surprises. The sign Pisces is opposite the sign Virgo in the Zodiac, with the planet of unexpected change opposite your Sun until March of 2011. You can expect sudden changes in your environment that challenge the freedom of your individual expression, and force you to take a stand about who you really are. These sudden challenges in the outer world force you to take more responsibility for your life.

Virgos are under the influence of another strong transit at this time. Pluto, the planet of regeneration and soul evolution, has been transiting Sagittarius since January of 1996. Since that time Pluto in Sagittarius has been squaring the Virgo sign, which will continue until November 2008. This Pluto in Sagittarius square to the Virgo Sun has been testing the security of you knowing who and what you are. If you don’t really know yourself and if you are not grounded in true self-knowledge, this transit is likely to bring about crisis outside yourself that will cause major changes in your life. Conditions of breakdowns and decay are an outward sign of the need to rebuild from within. Virgos are a mental and earth sign that really don’t like to change. But change is needed to attain growth and awareness. If you won’t change with the times, then time will force you to change. This square of Virgo to Sagittarius has an aggravating tendency to slant information in any direction. Virgos at this time you are being tested, and the only way you will pass is to know your facts from your theories, and practice what you preach.

Now for this week’s forecast of major transits which will start Sunday night when Mercury, the planet of communication, at 26¬∫ Virgo will square Pluto, the planet of regeneration and soul evolution, at 26¬∫ Sagittarius. The energy expressed from this square of Mercury with Pluto will have you obsessing over one idea or thought the whole day. This thought may crowd out your other thoughts to the point that nothing else can make an impression. The problems with this transit are compulsive thinking and trying to coerce others by your words. You may try to force your point of view upon other people today, or you may find that someone else is trying to force their views on you. Either way you can expect an argument over the matter, and no-one will want to give in to the other point of view, creating frustrations from the loss of compromise in your communications. Today‚Äôs communications will bring to light hidden forces, psychological energies within you that could change your life.

On Monday you will have to adjust to three major transits, making a day that will be full of changes, some unpredictable. So please take extra care on the roads for the holidays, because you will run into trouble if your are not paying attention to what’s around you. The first of these transits is when Mars, the planet of personal drive and ego expression, at 16¬∫ Gemini will square Uranus, the planet of unexpected change and revolutionary ideas, at 16¬∫ Pisces. Today, feelings and words will take on a whole new meaning of hurt. Just one inconsiderate word can set the ego off, and things can get out of control in seconds, with no hope for peace. This morning the drums of revolution are being played. The ego wants to be free of all restrictions and restraints. If anyone interprets your actions as personal restrictions expect to be challenged by an angered, explosive ego with a disregard for your personal feelings. My advice is to let go of the ego. There can’t be a war without a challenge from another ego. You can transmute personal ego energy into your soul identity, which can not be challenged in personal conflict.

Also on Monday Venus, the planet of personal relationships and artistic expression, at 17º Leo will sextile Mars, the planet of ego energy and personal drive, at 17º Gemini. The energy of this sextile of Venus with Mars will favor love relationships and friendships. Whenever Venus and Mars get together in the sky there is a need for balance between the forces of femininity and masculinity in your life. In a sexual relationship this balance is manifested by your ability to give and receive equally. Creative activities are also favored today. If you are not artistic, you may spend the day working to beautify your surroundings. The energy and liveliness that you have today can attract the people you want to attract, especially the opposite sex. Today can bring about financial opportunities, particularly for investment in art, and new and unique ventures.

The last of the aspects on Monday, is when the Sun, your source of vitality and light, at 11º Virgo will square Jupiter, the planet of growth and expansion, at 11º Sagittarius. The energy expressed from this square of the Sun with Jupiter will have you desiring in excess, which will have you out of balance with reality. Today you are out to follow your dreams and unrealistic desires over what is tried and true. You want everything and you don’t care about the cost. The energy of today requires you to manage your dreams, and desire for the excess, or you may bite off more then you can swallow. Your desire for excessive behavior could manifest in the areas of finances, self-righteousness and gambling. Any form of excess will be challenged with the same intense arrogance today.
