Complex Pirates

The third chapter in the saga of Captain Jack Sparrow is a bloated, convoluted tale. A pirate’s life was rough. Buccaneers had to deal with constant exposure, hazardous ventures and bad food. The goal: Get rich or die trying. Instead, in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, the characters and their inter-relationships are at the fore. Pardon the cliché, but loose ends get all tied up. To successfully navigate the various sub-plots presented, one must know all that came before. Thus, if you have not seen the first film or Dead Man’s Chest, may I recommend viewing them before attending At World’s End?

The special effects were superb. The finest makeup artists made the characters look most rugged. Mercifully, Keira Knightley’s beauty more than made up for the ruffians.
