Film is cheap when you shoot digital. In that four plus hours of the West Coast Blues Hall of Fame & Awards show I shot exactly 468 frames. Which is one of the reasons it has taken me so long to process all the images I took that evening? Out of that number I found about half of them to be worthy enough to save and fine tune. And out of those choices I finally paired it down to 50 some shots that I wanted to share with you the reader. You will also notice that some images are offered in both the original somewhat garish red color that was the stage lighting as well as a sepia one. I sometimes can not tell which gives a better feeling for that portrait. You can make your own mind up.
Before the music swells and they try to get me off stage I want to thank the Bay Area Blues Society and Ronnie Steward for awarding me with this years Blues Photographer of the Year award, my wife for putting up with my passion as a photographer, and to a great friend and blues musician the late Pork Pie Phillips. If it were not for him I wouldn’t have started photographing music again, something I did many years ago and had forgotten how much I loved and enjoyed it.
