David Koven Receives the 2006 Goodie Award

The publishers of Listen & Be Heard Arts Entertainment and Culture Magazine presented this year?s Goodie Award to David Koven for his long service to the community and his contributions to the magazine. David is the creator and host of a literary series in its 25th year at JFK Library in Vallejo, and is the writer of our recipe column. His weekly recipes and cookbook reviews are also featured at listenandbeheard.net./koven.htm.

We got together on November 18 to give back to our volunteer writers, photographers, artists, web programmers and ad salesmen. Besides the Goodie Award, we celebrated each of our volunteer contributors and presented each with a certificate of appreciation.

The best coffee in Vallejo was served up along with sandwiches and light pastries. It was nice to put faces with names as the editorial staff met some of the volunteer writers for the first time. Nearly forty people turned out to honor our contributors. Those who accepted awards expressed their pleasure in being associated with such a ground breaking publication.

The evening wrapped up with a poetry open mic and a fine evening was enjoyed by all. We would like to extend our thanks once again to all of our contributors for all they do. It is you, who give so selflessly, that make this publication what it is.
