Vallejo Music Theatre Raising Funds

November 15th, 2006 by cyndi combs · 1 Comment

Vallejo Music Theatre is hoping to raise at least $5,000 this Friday at their Founder?s ?Hard Hat? Art Auction. The public may view the auction from 10 am to 4 pm on Friday, November 17. Later that evening at 6pm, a wine tasting from Hagafen Cellars of Napa, hors d?oeuvres and host bar will begin the festivities as art and theatre patrons turn out to bid on artwork donated by local artists, and brought in by art dealers, for just $25. (A small price, really, to support our local music theatre.) The bidding will begin at 7pm.

Approximately 50 pieces will be auctioned including a dozen by local artists including Carlo Carlucci, donnio and S.N. Jacobson. A reproduction of Gene Francis? Tin Man is among the highlights along with Charlie Bragg?s Dinner Party and an MGM print of Judy and Mickey and a 1992 Norman Rockwell Lithograph.

Kristy Juliano and Debbie Barlow will be on hand to provide the evening?s entertainment.

If you want to support VMT, but can?t make the auction, you can bid on ?other than art? items at the online auction here. Thirty-three items are offered online including a wide selection of wines and wine tasting events, porcelain dolls, autographed collectibles, vacations, hot air balloon rides and more. This auction continues through November 26, but several items have earlier closing dates, so check it out soon.

Auction proceeds benefit Vallejo Music Theatre?s project to restore the historic landmark Old Post Office built in 1932. VMT purchased the building in 2003. Plans are underway to retrofit and install two theaters to house VMT productions and the productions of other companies and newly formed Conservatory for the Performing Arts.

The Founder?s ?Hard Hat? Art Auction will be held at 823 Marin Street, at 7pm this Friday, November 17. Tickets are still available by calling 707-649-2787.
