Visit marin street, Downtown Vallejo

November 1st, 2006 by martha mims · No Comments

Whether or not they are part of an officially sanctioned Art District in Vallejo, the old-timers and the new residents of Marin Street certainly have the fence leaning all the way to Florida Street. Local building owner BJ Conrad is actually the owner of the name Vallejo Art District, her intention being to create something that ran into a beaurocratic dead-end. You will find Material Visions, the latest boutique, diagnolly across from the home of the Vallejo Artists Guild. Walking toward Georgia Street, there are new artists studios all in a row, the new home of Vallejo Music Theatre in a landmark building, new antique and collectibles stores, a tattoo studio, the Vallejo Naval and Historical Museum, and of course Listen & Be Heard Poetry Caf. Marin street, not Main Street, or Georgia Street which is actually touted as the main street in downtown Vallejo. So maybe Marin Street is for the more adventurous, the people looking for a one-of-a-kind gift for someone really special, or to stretch their body in a yoga class or to the beat of an afro-cuban drum. Some things just dont happen anwhere but on Marin Street in downtown Vallejo.

For a visual tour take a look at the Marin Street Slideshow by S. N. Jacobson.
